This race has great potential, but is a one and done for me. Vacation Races in general is a great company. Well run races, good merch, better medals. This is maybe my 8th. The campground the race starts at is super cute. Parking was easy. Expo same day. Weather is perfect for running. Maybe 60 when we started. Race starts at sunset and has a great view of the mountains. This is a good distraction from the long, dusty, sand roads you’ll be running. Like all their national park races—you aren’t in the park. You are on boring neighborhood roads with small houses, barking dogs, and loads of dirt. This race should give buffs as swag. You will inhale so much dust that it’s hard to breathe. 90% of the race. The uphill portion is supposed to be the first three miles. What it seemed like for 13 miles is you were either going up or on flats. I remember only a short downhill. They advertise the stars and yes they are beautiful when you turn your headlamp off. However, wearing a headlamp for 13.1 miles is not fun. Running in sand is hard. Breathing heavy dust is difficult. And the stars are beautiful whether you’re running or not. The finish was eventful. No fires or mylar. It was cold. No reason to stay really. The end of race snack box was great vegetarian 100%. Would love to see VR give out plant based milk after. Not everyone is a baby cow. Medal glows in the dark for this one. Kind of fun. The location of the race to the national park was good/better than others.

This was my third Vacation Race. Lodging for this race is fairly easy. We stayed in Paige, AZ. This race gets into the park for just a bit which is nice considering most other VR races do not. The race is 95% on pavement which is a bummer. The part that isn’t runs on red sand/clay and is gorgeous. We stopped to take a lot of photos. The weather is a little warm this time of year. Lodging at the marina is hard to find and expensive for what it is. You also have to pay the park fee even if you’re only there one night. I would definitely run this again because it’s beautiful. The staff put on wonderful races. At the start you’ll get coffee, hot chocolate and bananas along with raffle prizes from sponsors and partners. They provide sunscreen and bug spray which was a life saver. Highly recommend this race!

This was my second Vacation Racer. I had ran the Grand Tetons the previous weekend as part of the Grizzly Double challenge. Lodging for this race is super easy. Stay in cute Jackson Hole. I knew I’d be running outside the park like most of their races. The course was on paved and dirt roads. Lots of rock. A few tough climbs. It was very buggy too. Honestly, not much to look at. I had a very hard time in the last few miles likely from navigating large rocks on the dirt trail and walkers. I would not run this race again personally. The staff, however, put on wonderful races. At the start you’ll get coffee, hot chocolate and bananas along with raffle prizes from sponsors and partners. They provide sunscreen and bug spray which was a life saver.

This was my first Vacation Race and I had only read reviews prior. I deferred the inaugural year (btw this series has an amazing refund policy. Signed up for the Grizzly Double which is Grand Tetons and Yellowstone the following weekend. Lodging for this race is super easy. Stay in cute Jackson Hole. I knew I’d be running outside the park like most of their races. The first few miles were pastures and horses. One small part that got crowded. Mostly roads with the Tetons in view the whole time. I didn’t think the course was hilly at all. It was easy and I’m an intermediate runner at best. Temperature and climate at this time of year is perfect. The staff put on wonderful races. At the start you’ll get coffee, hot chocolate and bananas along with raffle prizes from sponsors and partners. They provide sunscreen and bug spray which was a life saver. Highly recommend this race!
