Beautiful medal, one of my favorite post-race meals (the elks made hot dogs and hamburgers…I LOVED this). Great support at the water stations, lots of bathrooms as stadium is setting, fun ending carrying the football across the field. 1000 plus in the half marathon, so a good number for camaraderie.

Scenery – town is depressed, so the miles within the commercial district not “pretty” but the run section through neighborhoods and along river are beautiful, and you can tell that this town was once thriving and prosperous. I was glad we chose this race, to participate in a community event that was celebratory and brought people into the area. BTW, ate at the Bahnhof WVrsthaus & Biergarten downtown Huntington – you’ve got to go to this place! Great Schnitzel and beer!

This is an outstanding race, but get your hill training in my friends.

I’m an old geezer doing the 50 state half marathons. This was state 46. I can do the distance NP, although I’ve been walk/running in training due to a fall/dislocated ribs. Even though I looked at the elevation track, it is overall downhill, so I did bridges (my FL hills) and thought the downhill would of course outweigh the uphill.

Not really!

The race starts and narrows over a sidewalk/path over the narrow bridge, which is gorgeous, but if you are middle-of-the-pack and think PR, you’ll be stymied right there. Pretty much the pace of the people you enter the area with is your pace. Stunning view, stunning view…bridge incline not bad…then hill, hill, hill. A guy near me yelled “This is B*** S***!” nice laugh relief.

The kicker was that the corresponding deep downhills were STEEP and so instead of relaxed downhill cruising it was the “lean back and brake” downhill. So, didn’t really balance out for me in that section.

neighborhoods, up and down, up and down, then enter the park. SO BEAUTIFUL. This was more “normal” ups and downs, although at this point I needed to walk any slightly significant hills. Then water views and around to the finish. Beautiful area. Pretty medal! The volunteers were amazing throughout the race, super friendly and plentiful race fan support.

This race was exceptionally well run with great communication. Rehoboth beach (though are visit was rainy and chilly) has beautiful scenery, beach, and plenty of shopping and restaurants. We stayed at the admiral on Baltimore so half block walk to race start.

The race itself is one of the most beautiful I’ve run. From the boardwalk, you wind through neighborhoods, then into a natural park area with wetlands and wood and seashore. Gorgeous and peaceful. Trails were well packed and mostly smooth no issues. Plenty of water stops and support. Some small hills, really very flat.

I thought it was fantastic and strong recommend.

I was injured two weeks before the race and unable to run. Practiced fast walking, knowing there was a course limit of 3:30.

I enjoyed myself! The course winds through neighborhoods of cool beachy southern homes, southern oak, and spring blooming shrubs. The race start had plenty of bathrooms, good directions from emcee.

FYI, The start was chaotic. 5k, 10k and half start together, and that makes for a crowded turn onto ocean drive, slow start. If you are looking for PR, get to the front for start.

For me, planned walk, i was alone with the other walkers, slow runners fairly quickly. Course flat (tiny hill in neighborhood circle). Course support super friendly. Water and Gatorade there for us stragglers. No problem finding race course turns, both signs and volunteers clear.

I finished way ahead of the sweeper, and got my HUGE gorgeous medal and BBQ. Easy parking in and out. It’s a pretty area too, with beach and plenty of restaurants.

State 43 for us; we thought it was a nice small race! Hope I can run the next one!

This was a great race. It was well run with lots of course support and encouragement. There are a lot of participants and some one lane roads on the course…this worked for me, keeping me on pace. Some rolling hills, not hard. A nice long run in a park, pretty fall colors. Loved the downhill finish…most finishes are uphill, as towns often built on high points. Super fun way to end. Loved the blanket!
