I recommend this race to all Giants fans or people who love SF in general. You start outside the stadium and you finish at the stadium. I think they said this year there was 5,000 people. The swag and expo was mediocre. They didn’t offer the half this year but said they might next year depending on amount of people registering. The scenery is okay. Its just basically embarcadero to Pier 39 and back for the 10k. Organization was a bit lacking though. People line up wherever instead of by pace like most races. Also they lack barriers on the way back. You might have to run through tourists and such. It is an easy route and easy run in general. Worth doing but don’t expect much. Weather was fine this year in September.

If you have to do one race in SF this will be the one. It’s a 12k race where most wear a costume (a few don’t wear anything at all). There is an additional 3k option for runners who wants the extra challenge. You get an additional finisher metal for running the extra 3k. Not a lot of people (at least the ones wearing extravagant costumes) actually does the bonus. The 3k is mainly around great highway and surprisingly isn’t exactly flat. The race itself is moderate because of Hayes hill around the 2/3 mile mark. So practice on hills!

This is an easy half and great for anyone wanting to do their first half. It’s basically around GGP and Great Highway. No challenging hills woot woot! The weather around that time is usually not ideal. It was sprinkling a bit this year. But that makes it a bit more fun right?
