-No shade, wear sunscreen!
-Lots of twists and turns on the half/full course. Some of the turns around the water front were tight and hard to pass
-Irving Police Department was PHENOMENAL and would not have been successful without them

Packet pickup and timing chip pickup was a breeze. Parking is great and readily available. Cute town. If you don’t live close to Farmersville, you don’t need to go to packet pickup the day before, just go on race day. It won’t be a huge line.
Race briefing was quick and efficient. The course is beautiful, you’re in the trees, plenty of space, mix of concrete, dirt, gravel, leaves, etc.
The absolute nicest people – the participants, staff, volunteers, food, amazing. Every single person on the course encouraged every person they saw. Absolutely amazing.
The aid stations were FULLY stocked with anything you’d want and they double as drop bags and will hold your stuff for you.
The post race food, vibe, congratulations, and party were all great.
Definitely going back next year.

Race staff and volunteers only supported the fastest part of the pack. Volunteers were teens that were clearly only there for credit. They were more focused on their phones or books, rather than pointing out turns in the course, cheering people on, or giving out water. The course was poorly marked, which led to many people having to backtrack and go further than planned. No shade. Many switchbacks in residential areas.
The “pacers” were the worst I’ve ever seen. Less than one mile in, the pacers were on top of one another and yelling at one another about who was off pace. Then the blonde pacer for 3:30 let everyone know she believed that that was a slow pace, so she’d “make it a quick 3:30”. That’s not how pacing works. They would also walk as slow as possible, then sprint to make their pace. Again, that’s not how pacing works. Pacers should be encouraging and supportive, not bringing people down and having negative comments about another participant’s pace.
I was very disappointed that the race staff were telling cops and volunteers “oh the sweeper is coming up the back stretch, so we’re basically done once the slow people finally wrap it up”; I asked to address this with the race director, so it could be handled same day, but I was continually told they were unavailable.
Post race food was dismal, you’re better off bringing your own food and planning to go somewhere after.
Overall, very disappointing. Race does not live up to the hype.

You complete loops around the lake, get great views of the lake, people rowing, planes, etc. Two short hills, you only feel them a few miles in. Some gravel on the course, but not bad.
The main aid station is fully stocked, high energy, very fun. The second aid station is across the lake, pretty much self managed with just water.
You do reuse the same bib for all three days, which is doable. Definitely wish there was a way to identify who all is doing all three days. Highly recommend!

Great race! The volunteers and staff were wonderful. Dallas Police did a great job blocking roads and keeping cars away from runners. They were all very nice and supportive.
The course itself is beautiful, there are two big hills, but they are manageable.
Aid stations are frequent and well stocked.
Great after party with cold towels. Loved the shirt and medal.
Will be back!

This is an open course, through town, then residential, farmlands, back to residential, back to town. So many hills. The elevation gain map doesn’t look bad, but my goodness, the hills are. Very little shade, very exposed, etc. Starts off very packed, including people falling at the race start. Spaces out as you go on.
If you don’t finish in the main pack, they don’t have food and drinks for you. Tried to get cold water, only alcohol was available at that point.
Fredericksburg itself is great, but pass on this race.

**To note, the race director asked for a review and that if you have issues, contact them directly. I did reach out, as I think not having water available for all participants is an issue, but never heard back.
