I’m a repeat offender to this race but due to an injury just walked it this year which is thanks to Vacationraces’ generous time limits no problem.
I gave a 5star review for the scenery because although you don’t really see anything due to the fact that it is at night, one starts out with running into the sunset and then has the rest of the race to marvel at the night sky with millions of stars and the Milky Way.
It is quite Sandy the first two miles, but then changes into hard packed sand with even a stretch on paved roads.
Plus, the medals are glow-in-the-dark😊
I’ll be back next year!!

This was the inaugural Cedar breaks night half marathon. It was at an elevation between 10,000’ and 11,300’ which is something to keep in mind when living at sea level. The cool thing was the gondola ride up to the start line. The course basically went around the mountain with great views of the sunset or sunrise depending on what time you started. Mile 10 and 11 were a tough down and up hill towards the end. Overall the proven well organized Vacationraces event you are used to as a repeat customer 😊

This was the first time for Vacationraces to put on a half marathon outside of Mount Rainier National Park. It was a gorgeous location – aren’t all National Parks like that? 🙂 The course was party on the road and party single (sometimes double) track trail. We had to cross a highway which was not a problem due to the local authorities making sure the runners are safe. This race had a cut off time due to that but it was very generous. 3:15 for 10 miles after the last runner left.
The merchandise is exceptionally pretty: a new design for Mount. Rainer. I think I bought all the different shirts…. :-). I hope this will take place again next year!
(I only checked “first-timer” because this is the first time this race happened but I have done lots of other races with Vacationraces in the past.)
