Neuse River Bridge Run

I won’t use the weather against the event here as it was raining for the first 5 miles. The first 4 miles are up and over a couple large bridges and back in to town, really enjoyed that part. Then as you get back in to town, you go through different neighborhoods with some views of older buildings. Course support for the aid stations were great. Signage was minimal. Not really a whole lot of community support, just assumed that was due to the weather. I will say though, I did not like that as you run through a couple busy intersections, there were no police or race help with traffic and you had to trust the vehicles at these stop lights would just wait. Then finally “the medal” was a piece of rectangular plastic with a sticker on it. Overall, it was good, the after race food and drinks were a nice touch, just wish there was attention to traffic control and an actual medal.

I knew going in it was going to be a difficult course with a lot of hills and did it live up to it. Ending with essentially a 1 mile climb up Laurel Hill around Mile 8-9 was brutal, but loved the challenge. Swag was great as well. Needed more corrals with wave starts, 4 corrals and everyone going at the same time through a narrow street made things very difficult. They also need more attention to the aid stations. Every aid station, you had to physically stop and wait as they were filling up cups with pitchers while you’re standing there. For that many people, you really need to have a larger aid station with more cups available for the runners coming through. But overall, I thought it was a great race and would definitely do it a again.
