Pros:
– Run on Memorial Drive: Beautiful views of Boston, flat (except for a few overpasses)
– Relatively easy to get in and out. Race came with a parking pass at the start and it was surprisingly easy to get out when we were done despite plenty of folks still on the course.
– Cambridge HS sports teams cheering us on along the route made me smile!
-Finish area is exciting – the last 0.2 mi are lined with people cheering, very fun.

Cons:
– Mile ~ 6-8 are on walking trails along the Allston part of the river. This is beautiful but CROWDED, its also where many people start to slow down/stop. I gave and received a few heel clips.

The Good:
This course is absolutely beautiful with views all around. While the roads are not closed, they are very quiet, so through much of the race runners were taking up the whole street. It never felt unsafe.

Multiple loops and open roads make it easy for spectators to catch you often during the race. I saw my husband 7 times throughout the marathon.

The Bad:
Beware! The pacers were not spot on. The pace group I was with went out 30-50 seconds faster than avg goal pace in the first 4 miles and the pacers did not make it to the finish, not sure what happened. For this and all races, if you’re going to join the pace group – make sure you know their plan.

There are some big hills in tough spots on the course, but what goes up comes down

This race is quaint and easy to participate in. We parked about 200 yards from the starting area and walked right up a few minutes before go time. Bib pick up was very easy.

Beautiful scenery through out the course, and thank goodness because it helped distract from numerous very steep hills. The uphills were no joke, but there’s plenty of down hills to keep your pace up. That said, the steep down hills are the real killer here, my legs were pretty beat up after this race.

The race T’s were not attractive at all, i don’t expect I’ll ever wear it. (however following the race, volunteers gave out leftover swag from previous years).

Fun after party, plenty of good drinks and Dominos.
