About Me

  • Running club(s):

    Cornbelt Running Club

  • Rave race:

    TBK Quad Cities Marathon

  • Race that's calling my name:

    Any and all

  • I run because:

    Three years ago, I retired at 62, widowed. I decided not to sit around all day waiting for it to become betime. I used to run in school ( 45 years ago), so I thought I’d join the Y and hit the track. That was boring, so I progressed to the outside bike trail. While out for a jog, I read signs promoting an upcoming 5k. I had to google 5k to find out what it was. Anyway, I signed up for it, ran/walked it, and was delighted with my finisher’s medal. At the after party, I spoke with several others who enlightened me about our running community. I was hooked. Fast forward 2 years..I have ran countless area races from 5ks to half marathons. I am on the running club’s board, a Women’s 101 leader, and huge volunteer. ALSO, I just ran my first FULL Marathon at 65 years young!! TBK Quad Cities on Sept. 22nd.  Finished 2nd in my age group. I don’t look for it to stop soon, as I am currently signed up for 2 more half marathons and several smaller area races yet this year! Loving every mile!!

My first full marathon, at 65 years young! I did the training, yet the nerves were still there race day morning. It was raining, but not too warm. Canon fires and the party begins! This was the most exciting day I can remember! Despite the weather, the streets were lined with cheering people, plenty of cow bells, bands and bagpipers!! Organized with all the water stops, aid stations and nutrition boosters needed along the 26.2 mile ped-tour. As it is advertised…5 races, 4 cities, 3 bridges, 2 states & 1 island. Incredible!!
Plus, I finished 2nd in my division!
