Doug Hochstetler's Staging Area

Great experience in my first time at the Richmond Marathon. Loved the crowd support along the way, especially places with music. The aid stations had the normal fare (e.g., water, electrolytes, gels) but also some nice additions (e.g., junk food, pickle juice, wet towels). Some fans had their own aid stations as well which was awesome (e.g., candy, cookies, chicken nuggets, various types of alcohol). The downhill finish was fun although the post-race trek to find friends and family was a bit chaotic with the large size of racers/spectators. Loved the swag – long sleeve tech tee, fleece blanket, hat, finisher’s medal. The pizza and adult beverage were much appreciated also.
