I have done this race several times and love it because it is well-organized and is a great getaway from colder weather in a warm location. It’s also a great course to PR because it’s mostly flat. My only complaints are that the port-a-potty lines are very long and the corral staging isn’t monitored. I found myself in the second wave of runners for the half marathon starting with people walking or running a pace much slower than me. Otherwise, this is a great race with lots of water stops and wonderful volunteers.

This race was amazing! The culture, the history, the scenery, and the wonderful race director all made this a race I could see doing many times. The course isn’t difficult compared to many ultras but the 3 miles of sand at the beginning and the end are challenging, as is the distance itself. I honestly can’t think of a negative thing to say about this event.
