Oak Barrel lives up to its hype. The course is beautiful that almost makes you forget about the hills. Whiskey Hill is “The Beast” of hills. I have ran many a races with hills galore but this one… oh buddy, it’s long and steady; but it is satisfying when you reach the top. The rest of the course has gentle hills and some bank turns but nothing too bad. I will continue to run this race yearly.

This is a beautiful, well put together race. This was my first time running a marathon and it was a great experience. A majority of the course has great scenic views, with long stretches along the river. There are very few spots where the scenery is “boring”. Aide stations were amazing and will stocked, even for those, like me, with a slow time, mile 20ish station had water, gatorade, oranges, and bananas. This course is HILLY with a lovely incline towards the tail-end of the race, but if any is familiar with the Chattanooga area, you know the entire city is hills. Don’t let the keep you from running this race, though! Marathons are not my favorite distances to run but 7 bridges will be my marathon of choice to run every year.

This is a great, relatively flat course with the exception of a few small inclines. Start is in front of Bridge Street Shopping Centre with a loop around the perimeter and your off through a lovely residential area, where some are out to cheer you on. HPD is out in full force at every cross section. Aides stations fully stocked with Gu, Stinger brand, I believe, water, gator and powerade…which is nice because I train with powerade and a lot of races only have Gatorade (That is just a personal preference). I do wish there was one more aide station towards the end. I break my half’s in quarters so mentally, I prepare for a fourth aide station to help with that final push… But again, this is me and in no way should take away from the wonder stations this race has! The finish is in the middle of the centre and full of spectators! Finisher’s food has many selections and good sizes for a quick refuel after 13+ miles. The surrounding, smaller restaurants are open at the finish of the race which is really convenient. I would recommend this race for all levels of runners! Great for starting out and to get a PR!

This was a fun race! The atmosphere was amazing! The first half was beautiful and full of supporters and cheers. Aide station were wonderful and friendly. The back half had a lot more turns through residential areas and the spectaculars were few…I would have liked to see more, just because you need it then the most! Overall it was an incredible race and I’m looking forward to take on the full next year!
