I paced the 3:30 group here. I loved the small town feel of this race. It was a very small field and I actually ended up winning for the men this year (3rd overall). They gave out a cash prize and a foot massager to the winner so I was all for it. I’d recommend if you’re wanting a simple well run small race. It was fun talking directly with the directors after the race.

Ended up being my favaorite marathon weekend experience, probably because it was the first time I could bring the whole fam. There was a spacious finish line festival at a massive park which was fun. Hardware was awesome. The swag was alright. They ran out of large shirts which was a bummer but the medium ended up fitting alright. Crowds were great. Super supportive and high energy. Only a few quiet sections. Ran through a variety of scenery from different neighborhoods to city scape down on of the main thoroughfares. Great places to eat around town too.

I was happy with my performance with this being my first trail run. I did not train very much but I think I had good rest the week of and got my nutrition right. I can’t go more than 45 minutes without taking something (ideally gel) and I need to take one just before the start. Ran with Scott and Jordan. Scott until about mile 13 and Jordan until about mile 22. I wouldn’t have done as well without them. Got third place which was cool (for my age group). Lots of unexpected elevation, but it was nice to walk the uphills. I’ll definitely do a trail race again. Maybe Tim to run to run?
