Route 66 tulsa
- Race that's calling my name:
I run because:
Why I run
Why do I run? Everything.
Health. -mental & physical.
It feels good.
Enjoy being outside
Enjoy seeing what my body is capible of.
I run for those who can’t.
I run in memory.
Run while you still can.
I run because I love sugar and carbs.
And many many more.
Your mind reaches that place where you can only focus one stride at a time. One foot in front the other, one at a time. Your heart pulsates like that of a kick drum while your legs scream to hit the high notes of a 1970s rock opera. The pain is relentless but your world only exists between your ear buds. The sounds of your heroes provide the soundtrack of your greatest achievement. This is freedom in its purest form and you have earned every bit of it. You take a glance to your left and then another to your right. You see the crowds cheering you on but do they really see you? Do they see the countless hours of agony you have endured to be here? Can they even understand the magnitude of the sacrifice you have made to run a race that you never even intended to win? Only those keeping pace can truly understand and appreciate what this all means. This is what it is like to push yourself to the very limits of your physical and mental capacities and then find that last drop of strength buried deep below the surface to push just a little more. Just one more mile now. One more mile until it all hits you. The countless mornings where you woke before the sun and put yourself through hell before the rest of the world even got out of bed. The long runs through snow covered city streets. The shin splints, hip pains and weak knees. This is why you kept going. When you cross that finish line, just remember that it’s ok to cry. You endured everything to cross that line and now it’s in sight. They can never take this from you and that is why you run.
I run because I hate it. When you can train yourself to love what you hate, you have truly accomplished something extraordinary.
I run because I have been blessed with the ability and privilege is not to be wasted.
I run because no one thought I would finish.
I run because it’s a hell of a lot better then standing still.
