I live in East Tennessee, at about 1,000 feet of elevation so I was preparing for a hard grueling race. However, that is not what I found. While I am sure that the altitude and elevation effects everyone differently, I had a harder time training in the heat and humidity of Tennessee. For every hill of this course there is a long downhill, it has a great balance. So, don’t let the elevation scare you away, it was easier to run in the cooler and elevated CO that it was to run in the hot and humid TN. Plus, if you are struggling just look at the scenery around you, was absolutely beautiful.
