Super well organized with a great expo and coral set up on race day. Water stations were plentiful and well spaced. Lots of varying scenery with tons of neighborhood support (several houses giving out water/oranges/pretzels/beer to runners). There are a few rolling hills, the only major one near mile 9. My only criticism was the after race food. I finished way later than I was anticipating so that was definitely a factor, but by the time I crossed the finish line (5 hours) there was only ice cream and chicken noodle soup left. Overall a great race, I would definitely run again!

I’ve ran this race for the past 2 years and loved it both times! Packet pickup is at a nearby running store and they have gloves, definitely grab a pair because you never know what the weather will be like. Parking at the start is crowded, so get there early or park at the finish and take the shuttle. The course is great with gently rolling, but net downhill, hills. I can run this race without carrying my own water as there are stations about every mile. Great post-race area with food. I definitely recommend running this race!

This was my first marathon almost 1 year ago and I can’t wait to run again this year! I would recommend finding a hotel early as Ventura is not a huge town and his limited options. The 6 am start time seems crazy but you’re running as the sun is rising, really cool. The course is a net downhill with a beach finish and awesome food. For most of the course you’re running through lots of landscape so there isn’t much spectator support until you get to the last 2 miles. Water stations are well spaced with really nice volunteers. Overall an awesome experience!
