There were some beautiful vistas, but overall the race was much less scenic than I expected. A large portion of the race was through city streets that were not closed off. The sidewalk was very narrow and frequently one 1 person wide which caused backlogs. I logged 13.2 on my Apple Watch. Not sure if the course distance was off or if I added an additional tenth mile jumping on and off the sidewalk and weaving around traffic. The end of the race was an absolutely awful 4 mile out and back past the finish line. Mentally it sucked running past the finish line and then still having an additional 4 miles to go and it was not a scenic 4 miles. At one point we ran alongside a highway bridge and then behind a bunch of establishments’ dumpsters. The finish line came up very abruptly after a big turn which didn’t allow for much of a sprint to the end and felt very anticlimactic. Would not do this race again.
