The course is mostly flat with exception of running over 1 bridge. Best part is the first 6miles, the following few miles are along the beach path and is rather “lonely”, no bands, cheer squad, few fuel stations, that’s it. The last half of the race gets better as you run along the streets to the finish line. I only particular because it’s part of the Beach Cities Challenge.

This is an easy route for kids. Flat. An adult is allowed to run with the child but makes for a crowded race as most of the course is very narrow and you may need to run in the grass. I would resign my son next year. He enjoyed it.

If you like running along the beach then this is the course for you, if you need visual stimulation then is not for you. Mainly flat so it’s easier to PR if that’s your goal. I need visual stimulation so this race is rather boring and I loose motivation around mile 8 each year.

The 1/2 starts later in the morning so the heat can be a problem, but there is plenty of hydration stations along the way. Worth running, and Bonus, it’s part of the Beach Cities Challenge. Also the only race that has food trucks available. Beer garden band is great also.

Smaller crowd. The course is Very boring and towards the end through the park (approx 3miles) is disgustingly disorganized as the park visitors are allowed to enter the runners course. Nothing was blocked off or showing there was a race in progress. Won’t do again
