Kudos to the police who were out in full force to make it a safe and fun event for all of us to run hard and enjoy through their coordination and safety in directing traffic through intersections and other neighborhood streets. Big thank you to you ALL!!! Honestly, if you were not able to coordinate it, I do not know how this race would function or survive without just shutting down allthe streets.

Hard to get excited for a recap of a race that did not have much of the logistics figured out during race day with the volunteers (ie bag drop, pickup, food, etc). It is a challenging course with a new downhill for the first half (rolling hills) and then a new uphill and two nice climbs around mile 10 & 11 (and more rolling hills). If you are training for Boston, or another hillier race in the spring/summer, this course may be the right fit for you since it is an early March race, but if you want a fast and fun race… this is not for you. It reads closer to a 500-600+ ft gain vs. 300 that they promote.

The email and digital communication leading up to race was great, timely and very accurate, but everything outside of it just did not seem to be correct or up to the standards of what their website and email communications were.

It is an easy and convenient race that if you are a local (you can show up and literally park a block away from starting line), should definitely look into and participate, but for out of towners and to travel in for this race, I would only do this if convenient for you.

Main street is a great street downtown to end on, but with a huge market happening on that Saturday with like 100+ vendors, you think they would take advantage of that and all the fans/students, but it was so quiet and no one was cheering on the runners as they were finishing… just not ideal, not fun and kind of disappointing.

Great and well organized event that gives you everything from effortless transportation to the start line to tons of fuel, hydration and support on the course with just an overall great event from start to finish.

We stayed at the Radisson downtown and everything is just walking distance away and couldn’t be any easier to get around town, from beginning to end.

I will consider this race again for both half and full distances in the near and distant future.

The city comes out and there isn’t a dull spot on the course. It is a great event and a wonderful way to see some nice parts of the city, with a pretty nice downhill finish.

The course though is a hilly course, crossing over a few bridges with a nice climb around mile 11, coming off a bridge where you just get hit by wind.

Great course, def there to push you a bit and does give you a chance to PR, but not the ideal course to do so

Great event, cool course, with the unfortunate circumstance for this recent year of a change in the course that involved a not so ideal quick turn/uphill climb back into the ballpark due to construction.

Great atmosphere, awesome crew and people coordinating it and you end on the finish line.

Photographers were on the course, but did not have many images posted when they seemed like they were taking photos, so that was a shame.

If the course stays the same, I would not recommend to do it again if you are looking to run a fast time. If you are just looking to run, then this is a great event to run for anyone interested in running their first 5k, as the finish is pretty epic to come into the rightfield outfield and run around the outfield around to cross at home plate.

To preface this, I live in Pittsburgh… so training during the Winter and running in SC and getting an above average temperature swing, the outcome wasn’t that pleasant.

If it weren’t for the heat, and the late start, I would have loved this race. The location of the race was absolutely stunning. The grounds at Palmetto Bluffton (which we also stayed at for a few days) was just an absolutely stunning southern living experience.

Race volunteers and course markers were good, but nothing over the top, as the place is a natural conservancy so there isn’t much they can do that is over the top without taking away from the beauty of the course.

Course is flat and not that shaded, so if the sun is out (like it was on race day), it is going to be a HOT ONE OUT!

It is early… but with transportation and event coordination, it is super easy and effortless to get to the start line. If you want to get into your specific corral (ie I was in Corral A), this race is not intended for competition, but more a fun and enjoyable experience.

I mention this as I showed up about 15-20 minutes before corral was supposed to close and I was turned away, told it was at capacity and I was asked to go to the back… which I found out was actually back to corral D. I sifted through gates and did not make many friends, but I found they just allow ANYONE to the corral and the corral guards do not know any better and are just doing their job, but it was rather frustrating to be going off in the 2nd/3rd corral and after 5k int the race, I was all by myself and not able to run with the folks that were at the front that I was trying to pace with and compete with.

Ya live and ya learn…. because outside of that, it was a fun race, fun course and just awesome spectacle.

What a fun and great event in the middle of downtown Pittsburgh at night on a Friday… so much fun!

The timing and event itself is a full on production and is a great event that I would recommend this to anyone, as they have groupings for every level and type of runner.

The only thing that stinks is the out and back type course with two turns to make it a some sort of out and back course, so not ideal for a straight road mile to just go out and rip it.
