I work in Akron and live nearby, and it was really fun to get explore every little bit of the town. We ran past a variety of neighborhoods and landmarks, and my wife was able to dash to each viewing spot to say “hey” every few miles.
The last several miles were tough. Somebody else wrote 18 to 22, and that sounds right. Around the Sand Run neighborhood, the hills were brutal, and the last stretch down Market St. was quite ugly and VERY exposed. Market St. isn’t ugly, it’s just industrial and a big wide road, coming out of a lot of tree cover and greenery. The production of this race is PHENOMENAL. Akron really pulls it together. It was exciting just standing there. Loved it.
