I thoroughly enjoyed the Illinois Marathon. This race has been on my bucket list for years because it is held in the town where my dad attended college. I decided to participate in the Full I-Challenge. The expo was very small but that’s not a priority of mine. The race directors were very communicative and I received weekly emails as the race got close. The shirts and medals were definitely one of my favorites. The course overall was mostly flat. The weather was almost perfect except for the breezy wind that increased as I hit the half way point of my marathon. The volunteers and spectators along the course were awesome and provided great support along the way. I was excited to get two PR’s this weekend and with the flat course it is easy to do. I wish this race wasn’t so far away from my hometown or I would run this one every year!

This was my second year in a row completing the Cowtown Half Marathon. I truly enjoyed running in this race both years and look forward to registering for 2019. The course is hilly but who isn’t up for a challenge. The scenery and crowd support is superb. The expo is not something that attracts me to races but I have to say the Cowtown’s was just the right size-not too big and not too small. The race is a little pricey but you receive not only a medal but also a finisher’s shirt and a finisher’s jacket. My favorite part of the race was the post-race food. They had a lot of variety and my son loved the ice cream! 🙂 I would definitely recommend this race to a friend and hope to be back again next year!
