This race has potential. Nice, somewhat challenging course provides a good tour of Milwaukee. The mile markers were all off and the course was actually 0.5 miles long this year due to human error in setting it up (huge mistake). Improvement over the inaugural year but lots of kinks that still need to be worked out.

2016 was warm and I had my worst marathon performance ever.

Despite the rough conditions and personal struggles, this was a really special race to run. There’s no prize money, so everyone there running is doing so for love of the race (even more impressive that the winning time was 2:23!). It seemed like half of the people participating were either running for someone or had some connection to the Marine Corps or other military which was awesome. The course was great and the presence of all the Marines made for a really incredible experience regardless of the time. Great course as well; DC is beautiful.

Despite my personal struggles, I have nothing but admiration for this race. It really amazes me how much goes into planning and executing an event like this, and on this day, everything worked flawlessly. While I enjoyed the first half of the race immensely, the second half was miserable. But I have zero criticism of the race or its organizers. Flat, fast course, with ridiculous crowd support the entire way. Everything runs flawlessly and it’s a joy to be a part of. So I’ve already pledged to come back so I can enjoy the entire thing as it deserves to be enjoyed. I’ve already got my name in the lottery for 2017, so hopefully I’ll be back sooner than later and will know exactly what to expect in my next go-around.

I thought I would have liked this race more than I did. The medal and shirt are cool (though the size of the medal is a bit ridiculous) and it’s organized well. It’s a unique experience running on Lake Shore Drive, but the course does get a little boring. The fact that they had something called Skratch Hydration (which tasted awful) in lieu of Gatorade was also unfortunate. It’s still a solid race, but I can’t say I’m dying to do it again. They did offer free race photos, so that’s always a plus not available at all races.

-This was by far the smallest marathon I’ve run to date with only 528 finishers. I’m definitely glad I did it, and everything was very well organized logistically and ran extremely smoothly on race weekend. This was only the 2nd year of this race, but you’d never know it. My performance wasn’t what I hoped, but that was only part of the experience. I doubt I’d do it again just because of the location and the fact that it’s not the type of race I normally gravitate toward, but if you’re looking for a Delaware marathon, you can’t go wrong here.

Richmond was a very enjoyable race from the city to the course to the spectators. I don’t know if they are THE friendliest marathon in the country, but they’re definitely up there. It was a great experience and good result personally. This is one I’d highly recommend and might someday come back and race again. Running along the James River between miles 8 and 10 is serene and the best part of the course. Worth noting – this is the largest marathon I’ve done to date, with 4,509 finishers this year.

For anyone looking for a North Dakota race to do, you have to be crazy not to run Fargo. Everything about this race is top-notch professional. When the only things I have to complain about are the weather and Powerade over Gatorade, you must doing something right. Great course, great organization, great SWAG, great community support, and a course that screams PR.

Amazing views of Milwaukee, somewhat challenging course. Solid race production, post-race celebration leaves a little to be desired. But running across the Hoan Bridge into downtown makes everything worth it. MORE

Loved this race and can say I definitely will run it again sometime. It’s a good course with great support, and the city really embraces the whole weekend and makes it their own. Really nothing I can really complain about. Run the Flying Pig. I guarantee you won’t regret it!
