I have run marathons in major cities so this was my first scenic marathon experience.
The start line was at Wagner Park in Aspen and was very easy to coordinate getting to. It was fun to have my Family wave, “good-bye” when the race started at 6am.
The course is gorgeous. I was entertained with scenery for most of the run.
The course has a gradual descent so you are not feeling like you are out of control down hill. It’s a comfortable road to pace.
Around mile 20 there is a stretch of incline, nothing terrible.
When the sun comes out, it’s out so don’t let that surprise you. It’s strong but really beautiful.
Aid stations were available with electrolytes and water. I carried a hand held container with me.
The post race party is great!
I’m not sure if there are pictures this year, I haven’t asked.
I would do this again without question.
