Spirit Run is moving from Spring to Autumn! And the Spirit Run is adding a Half Marathon! The course travels out and back from the Dunes Resort along the Bay. Entry will be open to runners and walkers, although “officially” participants will be required to maintain a 16 minute per mile pace or faster (i.e., finish in 3.5 hours or less). Entry will be available to the first 1,500 registrants.

New Beneficiary: Newport Bay Conservancy (NBC), a non profit dedicated to preserving and protecting the Bay and its watershed, is joining schools and other youth causes as a beneficiary. NBC’s work includes:

• conducting research and implementing science-based management in the Bay’s protected tidelands and uplands;
• restoring the Bay, including a multi-million dollar restoration of Big Canyon, an area adjacent to the 5k and half marathon courses; and
• educating students of all ages and the general public about the Bay.

Spirit Run’s donation to NBC will benefit NBC’s youth educational programs.
