The Longview Half Marathon has become an annual March tradition for many years. AMBUCS and The Longview Running Club have managed the race through the years and have graciously handed the reins to the East Texas Down Syndrome Group to continue this venture.
Our race purpose is to advocate for acceptance and inclusion in the community for those with Down syndrome and other disabilities. All proceeds go to the East Texas Down Syndrome Group. Down syndrome or Trisomy 21 is a chromosomal anomaly with 3 copies of chromosome 21. World Down Syndrome Day #WDSD is always held March 21st (3/21) to represent triplication of the 21st Chromosome. The timing of the race will be at the half marathon and 5K marks, but every runner will have the opportunity to finish at the 13.21 & 3.21 mile marks symbolizing individuals who rock the extra chromosome.
Come out for a good race, great time, and a fantastic cause! The race starts in downtown Longview at the corner of Tyler St. & Center St. You will run through the Cargill Long Park Trail and back up through the Borman Trail. We appreciate your support and hope you enjoy the day with us.

Nice, small race
Very small half but the course was nice. The hills at the end were challenging. Definitely a nice medal and for a good cause. I would definitely recommend this race. MORE
