We Run Italy with the collaboration of Atletica Due Perle, created special packages for who would like to live a an extraordinary week-end of running, in one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Italian Peninsula. The selected hotels are all located in the city center of Santa Margherita di Ligure, close to the Start and Finish of this wonderful half marathon. Our packages have been developed to satisfy the expectations of each runner and companion.
There are three events creating this special weekend dedicated to the running sport.
Saturday Afternoon we will start at 15.00h with the “PORTOFINO RUN”, a running race of 10 km every runner over 16 years can join. At the same time, there will be the “FAMILY RUN”, an open race (without valuation) that permits everybody to join the sports event in this beautiful and incomparable natural surrounding. This race will be held on the country roads connecting Santa Margherita Ligure along Via Vittorio Veneto up to the legendary Piazzetta of Portofino, and after a u-turn, the race will be concluded running along the promenade back to Santa Margherita Ligure.
Sunday Morning: “HALF MARATHON OF THE TWO PEARLS”. This race takes place in one of the most picturesque sceneries in the world: the coast road is framed by the blue Sea and the green Mediterranean spots that connect the two pearls of the coast: the enchanting Santa Margherita Ligure and the unfading Portofino, symbol of the “dolce vita” since ever. A competition full of rivalry, where every athlete is motivated to improve the own minimum time and to reach the desirable victory.
The running trail, which is almost flat with some interesting curves and soft altitude differences becomes even more technical with its departure from Santa Margherita Ligure. During the trail you will be captured by breath-taking panoramas eg the Cervara Abbey, the Bay of Paraggi, the Portofino Square and the wonderful gardens of Santa Margherita Ligure close to the Sea Side.
The trail has to be repeated twice, between Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino, thanks to the country road that connects the two locations and that winds along the Sea Side. Departure and arrival will be at Santa Margherita Ligure at the Square: Piazza Martiri della Libertà.
