The Telesia City Trophy International Road Race 10K route was completely reconfigured in 2015 to take in the main town centre streets and pass through some of the most charming areas of the spa town. It starts and ends near the Telese Terme, in Viale Europa and Piazza Minieri. The final 800 metres are the most thrilling and spectacular, lined with jubilant crowds on both sides, cheering the athletes on in the final stretch. The route takes the athletes past all the famous landmarks in town, such as the Norman Tower – Telesia’s recently-restored Mediaeval bell tower that is now open to the public, and passes through places that are ‘sacred’ to Telese runners, like the fabulous scenic road around the shore of Lake Telese.
The course runs in a figure of 8, starting and finishing in the town centre, and is completely flat for the whole length. It incorporates long straights and more technical sections to make the race slightly more challenging but at the same time dramatic and enjoyable. The route is designed to be as technically demanding as possible whilst allowing runners to enjoy the scenery. This is one of Trofeo Città di Telesia’s fundamental principles – elite athletes, top runners and amateurs alike can take part at their own level of ability on an exciting route that’s technically designed for top-level performance.
