The 10th year anniversary of this race was a blast. It was my first time at this race and my first race over 26.2! We ran an alternate route due to flooding of the Des Plaines River. It was a 6.55 mile loop 8 times, lap one modified to keep the distance at 50 miles. About 2% of the race was in water. Ankle deep to start and then got deeper later. The race was incredibly fun, water was a welcomed challenge, it was a new thing to train for! Two aid stations were well manned and we’ll stocked. Everyone was incredible, thank you to the directors and volunteers! At the start, it was about 32 degrees with wind-chills under 30. It got warmer toward the end and was about 50. Picture there with both hands down and 1/4 zip unzipped, was my smile at hour 8! I finished at 9 hours and 12 minutes. I will be back for that under 9 hour mark!!
Incredible Journey!
