This is a small 5K produced by elite feats which is a race company out of Long Island. I always try to find 2 races when I can and this was the day after the Big Apple Half. I have also run a race in every borough except Queens so decided to change that. Pre race communication was adequate. There is race day packet pick-up and packet included bib and a nice polyblend T-shirt. This race was very laid back with around 100 runners. I never raced with this company but they seemed nice and it was very back of the pack friendly. There were also lots of athletes with disability for such as small race and this is clearly a race company that is encouraging people of all abilities to participate and not catering to elites even if their name is elite feat. Race was in Corona Park in Queens. It was well organized and chip timed. It started exactly on time. It was a nice course thought the park and well marked. Unlike Central Park, Corona Park is flat. There is some iconic scenery such as the Unisphere but other kind of generic scenery. There were mile markers and cones and direction arrows. My finishing time was just what I expected having run a half the day before. My mom was on the trip with me and I told her I would finish in 38 minutes before the race and I was pretty close in my guess. You are cheered on at the finish line. You got an ornament medal which was cute but they appeared to be leftovers from old races as some had the wrong distances. I don’t really have an issue reusing old medals to not be wasteful if it’s advertised they will be old medals. I did dock a sneaker from swag and would have given swag 4 or 5 sneakers if there were new medals or the medals were correctly advertised. There was big pastries and cookies for treats and waterloo sparkling water and overall nice post race snacks for a small race. Other than being a bit disappointed by the used medals (but races like this in New England don’t get any medals) I thought this was a nice smaller race and I would do another race with elite feats if I was in NYC.
I've now run a race in all the boroughs
