South Mountain includes all of the paved trails runners have come to love in Draper. Namely the Porter Rockwell Trail and Canal Trail. Every distance will enjoy these trails. The half marathon also includes the best parts of Draper City itself. The trails are absolutely beautiful at the end of April when Spring is at its strongest!
The Half Marathon starts at Osier Park which is located right next to the Jordan River. You immediately merge with the Jordan River Trail which you will follow for the entire race. You only cross one street making for an uninterrupted trail experience that is hard to come by anymore.
After a couple of miles you will come to Olympic Park which you will run through to bring you to your first aid station. After leaving Olympic Park you will be treated to some of the best parts of the Jordan River Trail as you run past Thanksgiving Point.
Just as you are past Thanksgiving Point you come to the 2nd aid station and begin a climb up the foothills of South Mountain in Bluffdale. This will bring you to the final aid station before turning around. You will be treated to amazing views of both Utah County and Salt Lake County.
The course is an out and back with a climb leading up to the turn around point. If it doesn’t challenge you it won’t change you!
