The Florida Roots Trail Race at Fort Clinch is first and foremost a community gathering. Whether you’re a seasoned trail and ultra runner hunting for a new personal best or a 5k road runner looking to push yourself into unfamiliar territory, this event is designed to bring us all together for one unforgettable day of canopied single track, food, and drink. From the raucous amazement at the winners to the lamp-lit cheers for the final runner, we at Zero Feet Above Races embrace and celebrate every one of our participants. A wide selection of real food options are provided at the main aid station and meals and beers await everyone at the finish line. Register now and run in the shadows of the historical Fort Clinch while experiencing what trail running is all about.
The Fort Clinch 10k/30k/50k provides runners with a challenging but runnable course that winds through the park’s trail system and circles the back of the historic fort. With a great environment, solid race swag, and an awesome trail community this race is not one to miss.
The Fort Clinch Trail Race will feature three different distances: 10k, 30k, and 50k. All participants will receive a finisher’s award at the end of their race. Special awards will be given to the top male and female in each distance, as well as the top masters (40+ year old) male and female in each distance.
All distances will follow the same course, a 10k (6.2 mile) loop that begins and ends at the Fort Clinch visitor center parking lot. One lap for the 10k, three for the 30k and five for the 50k. The course consists primarily of mixed-use singletrack that follows the natural undulation of the coastal terrain. There are a large number of short, sometimes steep climbs that vary from sand to well-packed dirt. As the race series name indicates, roots are plentiful, so keep your eyes open!
