The awe-inspiring views and adrenaline-soaked atmosphere surrounding the Races and Hikes can only be found in #EnduranceTownUSA (a.k.a. California’s beautiful central coast) on your California Military Department’s most pristine training base. Winding through Camp SLO’s striking hills, trails, and training areas, you will find yourself completely immersed in the sights, sounds, smells, and action of your California Military Department. 5 and 10 Klick races are chip-timed. What better time to challenge gravity to an old-fashioned duel than post-race, shaky-legged, sweaty, and totally pumped from your Trail Run finish? In a duel, you must carefully choose your weapon. Here, you will choose from three military-grade, gravity-challenging obstacles. All are huge, harness-and-belay based monstrosities. Have no fear; each is more legit than the Zipper ride at any carnival and safetied by slightly better looking operators. Don’t worry, it’s their job to make sure gravity doesn’t win this duel. Shirt included. Instruction included.
50 foot “Carolina Climbing Wall” *MILD* MEDIUM, or HOT. For this obstacle, the spiciness depends on your chosen route to the top. This four-sided rock climbing beauty is littered with enough crimps, cups and angles to satisfy beginner and expert climbers alike. We’ll happily provide equipment and instruction.
50 foot “Alpine Tower” *MEDIUM* Or HOT. Channel your inner ninja to get to the platform at the top. Problem solve to find the best route to get you there. Hand-holds, koala hugs, and perseverance will get some to the top. Others may be tempted with a shortcut via a knotted rope climb and contorted leaps through space. We’ll happily provide equipment and instruction.
“Tarzan Course” *HOT* Tough guys beware. This obstacle has a reputation for reducing the mightiest and most confident to kittens stuck in a tree. The width of a single cable underfoot will leave you wondering just how the heck the ground got so far away (so will the leaping and swinging through midair). Patience, balance, and the warrior spirit are the key to getting up, across, and back to solid ground. If you really do get stuck, we can call the fire department to get you down, but your name gets changed to Kitty for the rest of the day. Or, we can just safely belay you back to earth — in which case you get to keep the name you came with. We happily provide equipment and instruction for this obstacle.
