The Basalt Half Marathon race combines the stunning beauty of the Frying Pan Valley and a fast downhill course for a great summer race experience. Come celebrate our 45th annual races and bring a friend.
Racers will decent approximately 1,000 ft along Frying Pan Road from the base of Rudi Damn to downtown Basalt. Exchange zone for the 2-person relay is at mile 6.5 (transportation provided).
This race is a benefit for the Basalt High School Cross Country team.
Course description: After a ¼ mile on a dirt road the racers will descend approximately 1,000 feet in elevation, along the Frying Pan Road (paved) and finish in downtown Basalt at Lions Park. There will be three aid stations along the way and each mile is clearly marked. CAUTION: This road will be open to traffic, racers should run single file or on the shoulder when they encounter oncoming vehicles. No cutting tangents is allowed and runners will be instructed to stay on the left facing traffic the entire course.
