If you need big crowds this race is not for you. If you just want to enjoy a good run and set a PR, you’ve found the perfect race.

– The course is evenly sloped downhill, with a just right grade and therefore is super PR friendly. Compared to my last marathon three months ago, I PR’ed by 27 minutes.

– Although it’s in August, due to start being in the mountains (I think) and plenty of shade on the course, it didn’t feel hot.

– Plenty of aid stations.

– As the course is point to point, they offer bus from finish to start before the race.

– A lot of food at finish. Other than the typical bagel, banana, and watermelon, you also get one voucher for food truck, one ice cream, and one beer.

– Love the wood medal and cotton T-shirt.

– Bib pickup available at start on race day morning.

Pros:
– Scenic course, super PR friendly. I beat my old PR by nearly 6 minutes.
– Even though held in July, it’s not hot at all due to early start.
– Price of $60 quite good.
– Clear info on website.
– Efficient bib pickup.
– Pacers.
– Aid station every 2 miles or so.
– Pretty cool medal.
– Good after-race snacks, including ice cream and chocolate milk.
– As the race is point to point, they offer free bus between start and finish, depending on where you are staying.
– Free race photos.

Cons:
– Small crowds. I personally enjoyed the tranquil scenary and the small town feeling, but this could be a downside for some runners.

– Pacers.
– Water station every 2 miles or so.
– Pretty nice medal.
– Good after-race snacks.

Cons:
– So humid (98%), shirt and shorts got soaked by sweat after only a few miles.
– Course is very hilly, more than 600 ft total elevation gain. And there are just too many turns.
– Small crowds.
– Scenery is so-so. I just find the red-white-blue lane divider quite beautiful.

Pros:
– Clear info on website and in pre race emails (except for how hilly the course is).
– Efficient bib pick up.
– Easy parking near start.
– Provided bus from Double Tree to start, and from finish to Double Tree.
– Parts of the course are scenic, love the lake view.
– Lovely crowd at start/finish, and by the course in residential areas. Neighbors offered supplies and water sprays, so nice.
– Free race photos!

Cons:
– Website says “course is mostly flat with some rolling sections. The biggest uphill, mile 6.0-7.1 and 19.1-20.2, gains about 120′ of elevation”. I don’t think this adequately reflects how hilly the course is. My Garmin logged 856 ft. I gave this feedback to the race director, who promptly replied and said they will add more info about the course elevation gain on the website.
– It would be nice if there was a wall backdrop at either the expo or race for photos.
– Pacers only offerred for limited finish times, for example, only for 4:00 and 4:30 but nothing in between.
– It’s quite hot this year. Not anybody’s fault but just be aware.

Overall, I enjoyed the race and it’s my first marathon!

Flat course (apart from crossing a bridge twice), beautiful city tour of Philly, great production, good swags (medal, nice T-shirt which runs small, mug, and beer). Perfect weather. MORE

The course is Central Park loop x2 with 2 times running up Harlem Hill and 3 times running up Cat Hill. Pretty no-frills race but the price is way higher than a similar race organized by NYRR. I registered when I was searching a NYC half marathon in Feb and this NYCRUNS race showed up on Google ( I did not know what NYRR was then). Would not run again given the price.

This race is Central Park loop x2 with 3 times running up Harlem Hill, overall a pretty tough race for me. It’s a NYRR no-frills race and the price is pretty low ($35), would be a good winter run.
