Course was exactly as advertised, with just enough aid stations throughout the course. Beautiful running through the Northwoods of Minocqua and the surrounding area. The half ran entirely in the Bearskin Trail which is comprised of crushed, hard packed, cinder/gravel which made things a little interesting for footing in places due to the amount of rain over the past week. There were about 4 or 5 trail crossings over roads, 2 of which were monitored by volunteers well, the others with spectators as traffic could have been an issue. All in all it was a great venue and set up with easy packet pickup, rides to the start line provided from the finish line, and worth a trip to experience the beauty of Northern Wisconsin.

Prime location to enjoy the sights of Vegas. Atmosphere, runners, and volunteers made for a great event. Staging was step up well, but really made for a tough start, shuttled to the first staging area 45 minutes before race start then moved to pre race staging for 30 minutes meant standing around in the crowd of runners for about 45 minutes minimum, hell on the legs standing around that long. Course was very flat and very fast, road was in a little need of repair in some areas and saw quite a few people trip due to how or deceptively uneven asphalt. Mile markers were missing in some areas or just hard to see which made pacing a little tough. Live bands and DJs throughout the course made it fun, as well as the spectators lining the strip. All in all, a very fun event with roughly 18,000 runners for the half and 10k this year.

Atmosphere was great, and the volunteers did a great job. A lot of water/Gatorade stations throughout the course which helped space things out. Starting and ending at the beach was great, the boardwalk running definitely was a little weird sometimes but allowed you to run through some pretty state park areas. Swag was great, and the post race food, snacks and two beer tickets were awesome. Live music from a solid grungy southern rock band playing some good hits from a lot of decades that will get you taping your foot.
