I really enjoyed my overall race experience. The road2hope was my second ever race and I was not disappointed. The course is gorgeous show casing Hamilton’s best and very flat making for an easy run. I enjoyed the drum lines, and regular water tents in addition to the fuel provided on course (special thank you to the people with orange wedges! You guys rock!). I wasn’t as happy with the shirt provided as in my opinion it’s very ugly and not very good quality, I was disappointed that they had run out of swag bags at pickup, thought that there should’ve been more washrooms along the route – they were placed very well, but there was only one at each stop, and wished that there were designated metals based on what race the participants finished. However, I loved that they announced each person at the finish, the food tent was great offering hot soup, free tims, and healthy snacks. The volunteers were also amazing and finishing in the park was also very convenient. I plan on running the full road2hope marathon next year with the goal of qualifying for the Boston marathon. I would definitely recommend this race.

I ran the race after a very tough winter where weather and school work really prevented me from getting out and training. I was not at all prepared for the race but I made it through with encouragement with the wonderful people along the course cheering and those who were also running the race with me. The fact that the first 10k of the race runs through the industrial core is really unfortunate as you have to wonder what you’re breathing in and its less than picturesque, but the other 20k make up for it with the gorgeous homes along the beach strip, through Burlington, and then coming back towards copps (first ontario place). I thought that the race was run fabulously, I loved that they give you a time for halfway as well, the gear was awesome – by far my favourite shirt which looked great and was a great material. The end in the arena was great and very grand, as was the expo when picking up your racing package. Parking was also very easy. I would absolutely recommend running this race to anyone considering it. I will be back in 2018.
