The race weekend consists of 5k/10k on Saturday, and half on Sunday. I’ve run both the 10k and the half. It has been a number of years since I ran the half.
Today’s half was a real disappointment:
1) Course was very crowded / congested at a number of points. Mainly because there were thousands of kids participating as part of SRLA.
2) Aid stations, with the exception of one, just had water. The one aid station that did have Gatorade it was watered down a lot. There were NO aid stations that had gels, etc. First half I’ve ever ran that had such limited on-course nutrition.
3) Post-race goodies were meh – no bananas, no Gatorade. Just water and a few small snack bags.
On the plus side, the snowflake metals are cool – mine is hanging on our Christmas tree.
Unfortunately based on today’s experience, I won’t be running this race again.
