The community of Tulsa really embraced this run! It is a beautiful area and the town really supports it. Other towns might be upset so many roads were closed, but the “Okies” joined it making it more fun for the runners with their “on course support!” Check in was spot on and super easy with a really nice expo. Plan to spend some time there…. The combination run with the 5K the day before was a great opportunity to earn a little extra bling! Corrals must have had a wide time range in them because there were a few bottle necks at the start, but it was one of those races you just wanted to sit back, relax and run with thousands of new friends. Running along the river front was really nice as well as being able to run on Route 66. There was so much to experience EVERY mile! The run had a few more hills than I had planned, but most were rolling and not difficult at all. Definitely do the Center of the Universe detour no matter how much you want to be done. The extra coin and beverage alone were worth it, but having the opportunity to experience the echoing was a big part of race experience. This is not a race I would plan to PR on because it was just so much fun and you want to be able to take it all in!! The finish line had pizza and beer and live music! Free photos were also a bonus!! Nice medals and fun jackets for swag are a great reminder of the experience. Definitely put this event on your bucket list!!

Great downhill event that is partially on hard packed trail. Other than an uphill finish and one uphill at about mile 21 this is all downhill or small rolling hills. Morning packet pickup for those staying a short distance away is convenient. Blues festival that weekend so town is busy, but a lot to do! Leads to pricey rooms however. Friendly race that finishes downtown. Only drawback is that it is always held Labor Day weekend. A great small town race.

Although I have done this event all but the first year, I still look forward to it every year. The course has only one real hill on it and you get to run along the boardwalk on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Now that the start is a little earlier, it helps with the heat of the day coming back on the out and back course. I personally like this as I can cheer other runners on. It’s a small town race so not a lot of support on the course, but if you are traveling with someone, it is VERY easy for them to support you on the course. You pass fully stocked aid stations on the way out so you know where to expect them on the way back. On hot days the fire station sets up sprinklers for those runners who chose to cool off during the event. The finish is downhill (REALLY downhill at very end) right in the middle of town so you can see the drawbridge and boats. Many opportunities for fabulous race and post race photos. This family run event treats all the runners as family. Nice event shirts and medals and great post race food with pizza, chips … all the stuff you don’t feel guilty eating after a long run! This past year they went 5 awards deep in 5 year age groups so many middle of the road runners got an opportunity to podium. Great small town race that I look forward to every year!

This had been my first marathon ever back in 2009 and running through Lambeau was definitely worth it. The course has changed since then, but the course offers a lot of variety….riverside, residential, industrial….but running through the tunnel at the end onto the field makes every mile worth it!! Tailgate party at finish line!! I have done several times now so the excitement is not the same, but a great event and expo and a must do for any Packer Backers.

We did the double for the extra bling and early spring run! Christi Clinic knows how to put on an event! Expo was great. Swag better than most! The flat course was a lot of non descript area with a once in a lifetime finish!! Running across the Fighting Illini field was the best part of the run. Take time to do the Challenge so you can run on the field at night under the lights and see yourself on the jumbo screen! Post race food good for both 5K and marathon, but a little tricky getting up the bleacher steps after the marathon to the post race food! Getting post race food down closer to the action would be nice. Music jamming in the arena was electric for both runners and spectators. I ran this event in 2014 and went back in 2018 to run with friends. One of the best finish lines I have ever experienced.

I did this race with another runner. It started out as a real bottleneck and we wasted a lot of energy getting into a rhythm. It was a lot of cement roads (which we are not used to running on) and we kept a good pace going until mile 21 when the bottom fell out. Swag was very non exciting. This is an opportunity for races to advertise their event! A fun shirt will get me asking questions about an event. The best part of the run was coming around toward the end looking up at the capital and having good music even for us slow runners at the end — it was nice. At the finish line we were given a beanie hat — a nice touch as throwaways were long gone and it was cool out. Getting to the gear check with the barriers and steps was a little tricky too, but again, I think it was just all the cement. I didn’t pay much for the race because I registered early, but would have been a little disappointed overall had I paid more.

Race was a little hillier than I had anticipated, but I have NO hills in my home town where I train! Expo was simple but nice! Liked that was able to exchange shirt at end of run. Water was flooding the course at places and volunteers were furiously working to remove. All the volunteers were so good!! Course was well stocked and communication leading up to event was exceptional. Appreciated being able to take a shower at the “Y” before heading home. And shaking the race directors hand at the end was a bonus. You can tell he takes the small details to heart and the event showed that. A little pricey overall, but a solid event.

Check-in at the Museum was nice, but plan extra time to be able to check it out! I was unable to. Starting out running through the flags was energizing. There was so much history along the way. The first half was on base and the soldiers were really supportive. One big hill in first two miles, but the soldiers got you up that. Next hill had water part way up so it was easy to allow yourself to walk it! Pretty flat after that! Once you left base, you ran along the Chattahoochee River. There was a lot of activity to focus on like ROTC drill competition, zip liners, people out on the river and in the parks. I felt like the first part of the second half was slightly downhill (but basically flat) so was prepared for a slight incline when we crossed to other side of river to head back, but that felt downhill too, so it must have been pretty flat. It got hot, but plenty of water and support on course. Dog tag medals were really cool!! Shirt was super small I had an XL and don’t think a 6 year old could fit into it! Traveled with my sisters and my friend who was doing her 50th state, so her husband and other friends were around!! I would definitely do again!! Solid Event without all the glitz and glamour!

Did Hartford on the first day of a back to back marathon weekend and really enjoyed the event. Swag and stuff was good because it was a big time event so I was able to run relaxed. Aid stations well stocked and finish line electric. The course had a variety of scenery and was just enjoyable! Well run event.

Did this as a back to back marathon with Hartford and would love to go back and do again! Weather we windy and blowing sand, but the scenery on the waterfront was beautiful. Then running by the old mansions also kept my mind off the run. The second part had two out and backs… one flat and one up coming down on the way back. More water front and beautiful homes. Finish line on the water to dip in at the end and great post race food. A simple race overall, but definitely one I would love to repeat!!

I did this event in 2012 and it was extremely windy. As a two loop course, you got to see runners all along the way, but it was a winding path that did get a little bogged down at times. I travelled with a friend doing the 50 states and it was a nice one for her to get off her bucket list that we could drive to from Michigan.
