It was AWESOME!!! 🤩 best race I’ve ever taken a part in. The crowds were great, and pumped you up. Flat and fast course.
The swag was amazing for their 50th anniversary. They don’t give you any swag, you have to purchase them all.
Security lines went smoothly. There is a lack of port a potties for some reason in a race of such large scale. 58,000 runners.
They do pump you up and make it a party! Happy to have been there for their 50th. I’d return again if I can. Loved all of it!!

When I went to pick up my bib, I got asked “you’re running the full?? Do you know what you’re getting yourself into??” Which it made this race sound worse than it really was. Yes it had hills, but I’ve ran other hilly races in the past so this has been my best race to date. I PR’ed on a difficult course. So I’m extremely happy about that.
Weather was excellent, clouds in the beginning, nice cool breeze. It started getting hot in the last mile. Clear skies and the sun began beating you down.
The locals and volunteers were amazing!!! Plenty of water stops, many locals had fresh oranges and watermelons do help cool off. Others had hoses and sprayed runners (it felt amazing!!). The community really comes out to cheer everyone on and that felt really good. Not many “small” races have that level of encouragement on course.
Really liked the medal for their 15th year. Race shirt was ok, design could’ve been better BUT the fabric had a cooling effect so it felt great running in it. Lots of things for sale, not much free goodies for runners, and that’s ok too.
I’m glad I did this race. Kauai is such a special and lovely island to visit! If you’re thinking about it, do it! It’s worth it.

Gentle rolling hills, on a paved trail (race ends on a steep uphill, but it’s not the end of the world, I’ve seen worse on other races). Mostly shaded course. Volunteers were very nice, race swag was good, wish they had more items for runners. The finish line party was fantastic!! State number 5 down and not disappointed 😃

Dopey challenge is a challenge in itself, but what a great year this was!! Granted the 1/2 marathon course got cut short due to thunderstorms, the marathons sure made up for it. It was the first time where I felt great running it the entire time. No pain or anything (thank you biofreeze!! lol). Disney knows how to do races, everything was worth it. I’d definitely do dopey again.
**Disney has plenty of water stations, first aid stations (more than any other race I’ve seen), entertainment, music, characters, etc**

Not my best race since I ran sick, don’t recommend it. I wasn’t the last to finish but it was close. The hardest part was seeing people getting swept out of the race or flat out quitting. After mile 16 there weren’t any more water stations or first aid stations available for runners in the back of the pack. Luckily some of the spectators who were left, helped runners get water and something to snack on. If it weren’t for them, I’m not sure myself or others that were around me would have finished.
Security was probably the worst part of the race to be quite honest. They made everyone throw away their waters and there weren’t water available to refill your bottle again that I’ve seen. The lines for security were long and slow, that the marathon started and you’d see masses of people still in line trying to get through to start the race. Luckily I got there in just enough time to start.
The medals were honestly awesome! I did the freedom challenge and that was HUGE!!
Also, my husband who’s a front of the pack runner, who ran this race, had an entirely different experience. Lots of crowds, plenty of water stations, etc. So even though it wasn’t my day, he had a blast! I still recommend people to try it out, just don’t run with bronchitis like I did.

LOTS of hills, and it’s an open course, where you share the road with traffic. For the most part, drivers were respectful of runners, but others came quite close with no regard of runners. Everyone ran on the shoulder.
It’s a small town race, and there were maybe around 300 runners when I ran it. Besides all the challenges of the race, my favorite part was running along newfound lake, just beautiful!! All the volunteers were friendly, showers were available to runners (cold), and we were given lots of coupons (free beer at a local pub, and 15% off runners alley~this alone was amazing!~)
Medal is small, but the t-shirt was great quality soft cotton. Overall a good race for someone who is looking for a challenge. Still think it was worth running it.

2023 was a Very wet one! However, despite the torrential downpour, I’ve had a lot of fun. Somewhat hilly course, and extra challenging with all the rain, but so cool to have to many people show up during a storm to cheer everyone on!! Lots of entertainment, Elvis singing around mile 9 or so, mimosa stand, even a bacon stand was available lol expo was awesome, they give so much free stuff for marathoners, it’s awesome! Wish more races felt like a party like the flying pig did. I recommend this to everyone!
