This could have been amazing – perfect weather, great views, flat and fast course. But the turn off for the 8k (to separate from half marathon) was blocked off with cones and there was no one there to explain what was going on or direct runners. Completely ruined the race, adding a ton of time in what could have been a PB. So disappointing how poorly this was handled.

This is my fourth time running this race, and while the course itself was great, it NEVER should have been this big, they were not prepared for the size and the infrastructure couldn’t handle it. The expo was hard to get to, and insanely crowded and they couldn’t even get through everyone. They strongly encouraged everyone to metro, but metro could not handle the size – trains backed up, people couldn’t get off at the right stop. Leaving was also a nightmare – the closest metro shut down because it was overloaded. MCM did as well as they could but it never should have been allowed to get this big.
Small nit but nuun is a terrible hydration option for the course – not enough sodium and jt was so watered down it was barely anything.
Crowd support was amazing, course was really nice, weather was perfect. The blanket at the end is gorgeous.

This was my third time running this marathon and by far the worst! Not their fault though – started in pouring rain for about 3 hours and then turned sunny and humid. It was truly miserable. But one of those days you appreciate the organization and volunteers that much more, everything still went super smoothly and my only complaint was the weather!
