Boring race course for runners who need scenery. Low crowd support. Ran half 2023, full 2024, and downgraded from full to half 2025. I don’t think I will register again for this race event. Race overall is good, only negative is the race course itself.

The race course was simple but challenging enough for a newbie half marathoner like me. I signed up for the race last minute but so glad I did because I ended up liking it so much. This will become an annual race for me. The race event overall was very well organized and the race swag was perfect! I appreciated the parking staff, buses that transported us to the half starting line, and actual bathrooms (not only portable toilets). I would love to see more James River waterfront views added to the running course. Beautiful scenery is very soothing and is a pleasant distraction when running especially around mile 8/9/10 when a tired runner needs a mental boost! I would like to see more race apparel. There was a grey one city half marathon souvenir t-shirt that I wanted to purchase but is no longer available online. As a female, I felt safe running through unfamiliar areas. I am glad the I was able to participate in this race event and I hope to do it again in 2024.
