This was my first time running a marathon and I was incredibly nervous about it. The support was amazing; there were people cheering us almost the entire way! And the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. My favorite part was that the race coordinators interviewed someone who had run the race numerous times, while we were waiting for the race to start. He provided a few tips and said there was a hill just after the halfway point, and mile 17 would be our fastest mile. Knowing those two things made all the difference for me; I was mentally prepared for the hill and I had something to look forward to (mile 17) for 3/4 of the race. I am so glad I chose the Ogden Marathon as my first marathon; it was such a compelling and phenomenal experience.

I’ve run this half marathon twice, and the course changed quite a bit from my run in 2021 to my second run in 2022. I much prefer the 2021 version, as we ran through the streets on the east bench and finished in sugarhouse park. People were everywhere cheering us along, and that makes such a difference when you’re struggling to find more energy anywhere you can! In 2022 the race ended at the park just beyond the zoo, so there was very little opportunity for spectators to cheer us on. It’s still a gorgeous course and I’m running it again this year regardless of which route is used.
