Really well organized. As others have mentioned there is only packet pickup and race merch available at the Expo. The weather was ideal for Dec especially coming from the northeast, was great to run in shorts. The food afterward was disappointing, I got a banana and a few beers, which is the same thing I got after the 5K the day before. It was nice to be able to watch other runners finish while sitting in the stands drinking a beer. I stayed at the Doubletree which was a 5 min walk to stadium for the shuttle and the finish line. I would definitely run this again.

They changed the course from last year and now it is nearly entirely along the river which kind of gets boring, out, across the bridge, out and back, then back. They have lots of pace groups. The shirts are ridiculously small. Fortunately I emailed and got a response that they were exchanging at the race so I brought it with me and was able to exchange. The shirts and medals are nearly identical from the previous 2 years. I only got a banana and a beer after, I had no idea the food trucks were free until I read the other review.. which is really not the best way to find out about it! The packet pickup isn’t ideal if you don’t live in the city. Fortunately I had a friend who picked it up for me. My main complaint was there was no Gu at mile 8 like the race guide said, I don’t know if they ran out or just didn’t have it but that was very disappointing. Fortunately a spectator had Munchkins on the bridge so I had a little sugar to keep me going. Of course I’ll do it again next year.

The weather was horrible but of course that is not the race’s fault, and it wasn’t the worst part of the day. The lines for the portojohns before the race were ridiculous.. I waited 45 mins. For 30K+ people they need way more. After the finish you are in this strange cattleshoot jammed with people to get to the water, medals, and sparse food. Then an hour+ waiting to get out of the parking lot. All I could think is why would people run this year after year? The course is flat and fun with lots of people out cheering (even in terrible weather) but really not worth it for all the issues.

The race course was changed up a bit from last year which was nice. There’s about 4 miles out and back so you can see everyone ahead of you which for me makes it more difficult. Nice weather although they could start the half at 7 and start the 5K at 7:30. The food afterward was sad.. really green bananas and an unsalted soft pretzel. The beer was delicious but the area seemed smaller than last year with no tables or chairs set up. The shirt is cut funny, seems tight on everyone. No one is checking that you’re in the assigned corrals (at least towards the back) but the course is wide enough it doesn’t matter as everyone spreads out pretty quick.

Great turnout, it seems like the whole town was out volunteering or running. Lots of pacers who were so friendly. The course was clear of cars except for a random truck that ignored the road closed signs and he was quickly guided out by someone. I loved the cows to get pictures with at the school. Only saw 1 cow on the course. Food choices afterward were not as good as I was expecting based on previous reviews, probably because of how slow I was. I was not prepared for the hills or the heat so it was one of my worst times ever. However I didn’t get an official time so I do not know exactly how bad it was! This may have been the last running of this race which is sad.
