Love the Beach Cities Challenge, of which this race is a part of.
Event Expo was awesome. Easy to navigate, well staffed. Great vendors, generous with freebies.
Can’t ask for a better venue along PCH in Huntington Beach. Would have liked sunny weather, but overcast & mid-60’s at run time was perfect conditions.
Course is relatively flat, one area the barricading squeezed runners down quite a bit creating a bottleneck, lasted for ~1/4 mile. Not sure even why it was there but minor annoyance.
Highly recommend.

– Love this event! My favorite half-marathon to date. Helps that it is also my PR.
– As others have said hill at mile 9 is a killer, makes up for it on steady decline into the finish where you can motor.
– The course in general is interesting with variation in scenery and areas it traverses. From downtown starting in Gaslamp along the marina into town a bit then by Balboa park and down to the finish near the starting line
– Lots of spectators and bands on course to break the monotony
– The race start/finish in Gaslamp district is fantastic and energetic with lots to do post-race
