This is a pretty challenging trail race with lots of roots, ruts, a few logs and big ditch. It was mostly shaded and had a few views of the lake. Great atmosphere with camping available at the start/finish. Burgers, beer, and big medals at the end. Coming off an injury, chiro team offering rub downs and sports taping was a nice touch. If you like trails, this is a great race. Love the theme: Know your WHY

Great raffle prizes, high energy and coffee at the start. Released in waves to help thin everyone out. Begins and ends on the highway with lots of trail and gravel in between crossing the Nisqually River. It seems that you are running with your back towards Mount Rainier when not surrounded by trees, not sure why the route isn’t reversed. Plenty of aid stations and porta-potties. If you love nature, lush green ferns, and wildflowers, this race is for you. Love VR race guides, swag, and atmosphere. Weather was perfect!! I would recommend this “race-cation,” come up on Wednesday to visit the park and surrounding areas. Getting into the park after the race is a nightmare. Do the double, get extra swag.

High energy pre-race atmosphere. Love their “zero waste, leave no trace” motto. The first half of the race was along the road heading to Mount Rainier National Park and the second half mostly on a quiet, shaded, paved street. You return back to the road for a short piece before ending at a park. Great shirts, medals, and after race recovery food box, and my favorite, chocolate milk at the end.
