If you’re looking for a race with a true sense of camaraderie amongst everyone, THIS IS THAT RACE! Not only do you have local residents lining the streets – everyone from college students to small tots to older residents – cheering everyone on, but there is music and encouragement all along the course. And everyone running is supportive and encouraging of one another. Perhaps it’s because everyone is running the same distance, but there’s just a huge sense of community that you don’t get with other races. This year was HOT, but there were lots of hydration stations and even misting stations. Overall, still the most amazing time!

This is no ordinary race! We’ve run the Richmond 8k and several 5k races, but nothing can prepare you for entire block parties occurring during the race while they all cheer you on enthusiastically. The race took place on my sister’s birthday , so naturally we made sure to dress appropriately. She was greeted with so many birthday wishes, and even had one group sing! The pace of the race itself is nice – not so fast that you’re rushed, but not “herd of turtles in peanut butter” slow either. When we got done we actually didn’t even feel like we’d run a 10k – and all of our training runs left us drained. Go ahead and sign up. Even if you walk this one, you won’t be disappointed!
