The good and bad –
The good – the race location is fantastic! We wrapped a whole friends vacation around it. The trail/ course and scenery is the best! Non- technical. So it’s for everyone.
The bad – some room for improvement here. The shirts/ swag are just ok 5/10 (weird silver ink logo, no distance noted (50 miler/ 100 miler, etc.). The aid stations could use some work – there are a few that are pretty far apart (up to 8 miles), leaving me out if water a few times (yes, I filled up. It was hot!). Aid station supplies were not great – not much real food available at most (I asked for ramen at multiple stations that didn’t have it, I did score bacon and potatoes at one station, but it seems like they would have it at all. More to be said, but it’s more of the same. Also, the ambiance was lacking! No music, not much cheering. Not normal to me at all in the many races I’ve ran. Lastly, and important, the finish line was dead! Not much for cheering, or food, or drinks. Just take your pic w a banner and go.
With some very minor adjustments, this race could be fantastic. I hope they invest a little more to make it great – I’d surely do it again. If they did.
