This race is challenging as soon as you leave the gate with a hill to start and an even bigger hill around the corner. A great challenge and lots of laughing and swearing but it drops you into a gorgeous mossy forest with creeks, ponds, and all the muddy views. The course is very well marked so you won’t won’t get lost and one aid station in the middle of the loop with great snacks and enthusiastic volunteers. The finish has a great little magnet for you and the finish food was perfect with bananas and fruit, cookies, soup, and chips. While the shuttle was slow for pick up after, if you find a friend doing a longer distance and can wait, it’s easy to park at the high school down the road.

This is a great course for those looking for a flat and easy route. It’s a straight out and back so you can’t get lost. It’s a nice paved trail with aid stations every few miles. I like the early start for a summer race because this tends to be the warm season for Washington. There is plenty of free parking at the start, lots of honey buckets so few lines, and the finish area is a park so there is a lot of space for friends and family to wait, and a great space for hanging out after. The trail is in direct sun most of the race so on a clear day it can get warm. Orca always has great swag and recovery food. Keep in mind they have cupless races so it’s good to have a way to carry water.

This was a great inaugural run put on by Orca Racing. The route is relatively flat on a nicely paved trail with pretty views of the river, mountain, and valley. There was a nice park for the start and finish line to hang out at and plenty of parking in a nearby commercial lot. The swag was super pretty and loved the soup at the finish.

This was the first year they did two loops rather than three loops of the park and it was a great improvement. There were two laps with an out and back along Lake Washington. There is one big hill a half mile in but the rest is relatively flat. It is all paved trail and sidewalk but there are a few narrow spots that make it hard to pass people. The course ended up short by .10 but that could be due to loose tangents. The swag and food at the end is great and I appreciate race day pick up so I don’t have to make an extra trip to get my bib. There is a fun tunnel of love that is fun to run with your love, friends, or alone!
