This race is so much fun from start to finish! Staying warm in the Hangout beforehand is a great perk. You start with the beach to your left, and then end up running a wide, paved path through the beautiful park. The boardwalks can sometimes be a little slippery, but the race organizers did a really great job of making sure they were clear and safe this year after that crazy snowstorm! There are aid stations every two miles and sections with people cheering intermittently as well. The best part is the afterparty! The food, beers, and music are all excellent. I would highly recommend this race to anyone, and I’ll definitely be going back next year!

The town of Luray is adorable, the nearby hiking is top-tier, and the race was so beautiful and well-organized. I was most impressed by the amount of port-o-pots that were available throughout the course! lol! The hills were hard, but there seemed to be as much downhill as there was uphill and it was totally doable. The only little tiny thing I would change is there was a small stretch of gravel right at the very end and it was harder than the hills were, mentally.

The scenery for this race is the absolute best I’ve ever had. It was enough to distract from how long we were running! I have just two small comments – there are some points when they make you run on the edge of a road with cars right next to you and no passing space, and the parking lot “closes” way before the start so you have to get there so early. If they could just situate the route so that it didn’t surround the parking lot, I think that would be a lot better.
