I’ve run this race several times, and it is definitely one of the most beautiful races in the world! 2023 was INSANELY windy (people were getting knocked over by some of the gusts), but it kept it entertaining for sure! The hills are challenging but very doable (long and gradual, not super steep), and the views make it all worth it! The organization is top notch as well! Highly recommend doing this race at least once! Bucket list race for sure!!

I discovered this race during Covid and have been back every year since! The course is BEAUTIFUL, and the weather is a nice change from the Texas heat (where I call home). The race director, volunteers, spectators, etc. are all amazing! The hills are a little challenging, but it really helps to break up the run. I love the out and back sections as well because you’re able to cheer on other runners as you pass! Will definitely be back again next year!

Obviously the race is beautiful, and obviously the course is on the tougher side… but I absolutely love how this race hits all of the senses! The views are spectacular. The smell of the trees and the ocean fill the air. The sounds of the baby grand piano carry all around the cliffs leading up to Bixby Bridge. You can feel the beating of the drums in your chest as your legs and glutes push you up the hills. The (well earned) strawberries are the sweetest, most delicious thing you’ll ever taste on a course. And I’ll say it again… THE VIEWS!!!

The race is also just so well put together! They literally think of everything to make this race perfect! They have some of the best sponsors, and the volunteers are absolutely amazing! This race should be on everyone’s bucket list because it truly is an experience of a lifetime!!

I absolutely love CDA, so getting to run a marathon there was amazing! The views were incredible! There were a bunch of covid-19 precautions in place, so I felt very safe the entire time. I was actually nervous that it would feel lonely with all of the social distancing in place, but we were still able to see other runners and spectators from a safe distance (so it was still very fun and festive!). I will absolutely be back for 2021!

So glad I did this race!! The crowds and volunteers were awesome, the course was beautiful (and I loved spotting houses from Fixer Upper along the way), and I loved the finisher food (brisket fajitas, yes please!!!). The course was hilly (I actually really like hills, though), so probably not the best race for PR-ing. For just a good, fun view of the city, you can’t beat it 🙂

Those are pretty much the highlights! You obviously know by now that the hills are no joke (it always surprises me when people choose Big Sur as their first marathon… although it basically guarantees they’ll PR their next race). The piano at the top of the hill (combined with the views) is by far one of the most magical race moments one could ever have. I don’t ever stop during races to take pictures, but I make exceptions for this race 🙂

I might be slightly biased now, but this was an amazing race! I ended up registering last minute because both the Houston and Austin Marathons had such hot/muggy weather, and thank goodness I did! The weather was perfect, the course was great (it was my first time in Fort Worth, so I was super pumped to run through the Stockyards), and the volunteers were incredible! There were plenty of free parking options for both the expo and race day, and all of the logistics were super easy. Anyway, this was my first Cowtown race to run, and, somehow, every single star aligned on Sunday and I was able to Boston Qualify for the first time (and what better way to celebrate than with chicken noodle soup, Blue Bell ice cream, and ringing the big cowbell!)! You can’t beat 40 degrees and overcast for a race, and every single other detail was perfect! Again, thank you so much!!! I’m still on cloud 9 🙂
