Where do I start? I can’t say enough good things about this race. My first full road marathon and I chose the Flying Pig because it’s their 25th anniversary! The swag is awesome! Each year, a different premium bag item is made for relay marathon runners and full marathoners. This year full marathoners also received a waist belt that is perfect for storing things in while running. Their posters and shirts are awesome! The expo is the largest I’ve ever been to. So many freebies and photo booths! The course has uniqueness because you cross a bridge into Kentucky and another bridge back into Ohio. And Elvis will be there around mile 7 or 8 🙂 Lots of hills, but the massive amount of spectators will get you through it. It’s a great finish line with music, people in pig costumes, and lots of food items to devour. Post race is spectacular with a view of the river, food trucks, photo booths, free beer, etc. Too much to mention!

My first time participating in the queen bee half and it won’t be my last! The course is packed with spectators cheering you on and handing out snacks such as chocolates, twizzlers, granola, fruit, gumdrops, cookies, etc. Too many to list. It’s a slightly hilly course, but with beautiful scenery. I even set a new pr, beating my fastest time by 8 min. The swag is the best of all my previous races. They weren’t stingy! The expo is HUGE!

This was my first time participating in the Iron Horse Half Marathon. The course has many rolling hills, with a few steeper hills. The course was out and back in 2 different directions and ending uphill. I was told that the course had slightly changed from 2018. The scenery was beautiful. Lots of horse farms with horses out running. Some were rolling in the dirt which caused dust to blow towards the course, but that was okay, because the horses took my mind off of running. A friend and I stopped to take pictures of them. There was an adequate amount of water stops, and some providing sword as well. The medal was great! Heavy and beautiful for their 10th anniversary. The course ended at the edge of the midway festival so it was nice to be able to look at arts and crafts afterwards. The shirts were short sleeve technical shirts. However, mine was too small so I’m impatiently hoping for a shirt swap 5 days after the race. This is my biggest disappointment about races. I feel that there should be enough shirts available to swap.

My first time participating in the great smoky half marathon put on by vacation races and I feel they done an exceptional job! It was a good course with only slight hills and the scenery was amazing! From running next to the creek to crossing a pedestrian bridge, there was a lot to look at. The last 3 miles were run in the open next to a highway, which wasn’t great, especially with the sun beaming down, but your almost to the finish so I didn’t mind. There was an adequate amount of water stations and porta potties along the course. At one stop, they provide honey stinger gels and oranges, etc. But you do have to provide your own water container. I always wear my hydro pack, so this isn’t a concern for me.

This is the first year they started the 10k. The scenery is nice with occasional airplanes taking off/landing since the course is across the road from the airport. There are 2 water stops for the 10k course and 1 for the 5k course. It’s hilly with occasional flat areas. It has grown a lot with participants in the past 6 years. it’s great for kids because they have a petting zoo and a kids fun run. Some adults dress in superhero costumes. Overall, it’s a great race to participate in.
